Sorry, but the last heard of him in the military records was March, 1865 pursuing deserters. Neither his name nor his widow's show up in the Index to Texas Confederate pensions

John T. Kellogg, age 26, Private, Capt. J. M. Blair's Company, Likens' Battalion Texas Vols.*, joined for duty and enrolled October 1, 1861 at Sabine Pass by Capt. Blair for the war, exchanged into Daly's Battalion, January 24, 1864

* This company subsequently became Company A, 11th (Spaight's) Battalion (Cavalry, Artillery, and Infantry),* formerly designated as the 6th (Likens') Battalion Texas Infantry

Kellogg, Sergeant, Company F, Daly's/Ragsdale's Battalion Texas Cavalry, recorded sick a Beaumont Hospital on the September, October & November, 1864 Regimental Returns, granted 60 days furlough December 1, 1864 by the Examining Board of Surgeons, Beaumont, last recorded on the March, 1865 Regimental Return as absent in pursuit of deserters, no further records

Ragsdale's Battalion Texas Cavalry was organized in October, 1862, and was known at various times as the 4th Battalion Arizona Brigade, the 2nd Battalion Arizona Brigade, the 1st Battalion Arizona Brigade, Davidson's Battalion Texas Cavalry and Daly's Battalion Texas Cavalry
