You can procure his records, summarized below, through the service noted in the Red enclosed box above.

Phineas R. Oliver, Private, Capt. William L. Foster's Company, Texas Mounted Rifleman,* mustered into service March 27, 1862 at San Antonio by Lt. E. A. Stevens for 3 years or the war, value of horse $90, equipments, arms, etc. $30, discharged for disability, July 16, 1862 by order of Brig. Gen'l. H. P. Bee, having been unfit for duty the last two months, 48 year old Farmer, born in Washington County, Georgia, 6' 1", dark complexion, dark hair, black eyes

* This company subsequently became Company D, 36th Texas Cavalry (Woods' Regiment, 32nd Texas Cavalry)

...

I certify that I have carefully examined P. R. Oliver, a Private of Capt. Fosters company, Col. Wood's Regt. and find that he is incapable of discharging the duties of a soldier because of Rheumatism and the effects of an arrow[?] wound in the right arm. The Rheumatism is of Several years standing which with his age, is beginning to stiffen his body and limbs, and seriously effect his activity.

The wound in the arm, cut and so injured the tendons of the Flexor Digitoruous Sublimis Perforratus Muscles as to cause permanent flexion of the two last fingers of the hand. This so cripples and restricts its action as to render difficult the use of arms. July 3, 1862, JC[?] Rogan, A. A, Surgeon
