James N. Starr is listed in the 17th Regiment (Moore's Reg), Texas Cavalry, Company C. My James N. Starr was born in Georgia, lived in Smith Co. TX, married Mary/Martha G. Hawkins and died in Arkansas on Dec. 26, 1863. I know from one thread that the 17th was captured in Arkansas. There's another James N. Starr in the First Cherokee Mounted Volunteers, First Squadron. Is there some relationship of the two regiments or is it that these are two different people? I am really clutching at straws with the hope that my James N. Starr was also in the 1st Cherokee ...because we have not been able to document our Cherokee ancestry. Thanks for any thoughts or answers. Debbie
