Re: N.W. Busby - 15th Texas Infantry

I do not find a Texas pension in the index for either him or a widow under the surname Busby, N. I do not believe Texas Confederate pensions were authorized by the time he died in 1888, however, a surviving widow may have applied at a later date. But, there is no record of a widow's application.

The 1860 Federal Census shows Nathan W. Busby, age 24, residing in Robertson, Texas, Wheelock Post Office, with wife Sara A., age 24, and children James W, age 2, and Sylvester, age 1

N. W. Busby, age 28, Private, enlisted in Captain J. W. Sedberry's Company, Speight's Battalion, Texas Infantry,* enrolled for duty January 15, 1862 at Millican by J. W. Speight for 12 months, last recorded present on the companies May & June, 1863 muster roll, no further records [Note, he must have been dropped** from the rolls sometime from this date until the end of the year, as the next muster roll for the period Jan & Feb, 1864 does not report his presence]

* This company subsequently became Company C, 15th Regiment Texas Infantry

** This could be the result of discharge, capture, death, desertion, etc.
