W.B. Ferrell; John Clayton; P. Hardeman's AZ Cav

Vicki Betts:
.
I cannot find this Mar 9, 1864 HOUSTON DAILY TELEGRAPH article on your web site.
.
Quoting: " ... Camp Garland, Indian Territory, Feb. 23, 1864--Privates Ferrill and Clayton, Co. C, Hardeman's regiment, shot yesterday for desertion; three more to have been shot but escaped. Houston Daily Telegraph, March 9, 1864, p. 1. ..."

.
This W.B. Ferrell was a corporal, not a private
.
FERRELL, W. B. Ferrell, b-1827; Hardeman's AZ Cav, Co C, Cpl (Fannin Co, TST)
.
*******
.
I have an older "John Clayton" of Fannin Co. that may be this John Clayton.
.
John Clayton was a sergeant, not a private. His CSR reads: "Mch 1865, away without leave in Grayson Co, Texas since March 30, 1865"
