William Laban Scott

I am looking for information on a relative, William Laban Scott, who was a private in the 2nd Texas Regiment, Company G. According to regimental records he died on August 11, 1862 of illness. I have a letter from his father, Philip Bruce Scott, that says "I have heard you are near Jackson, MS." However, I have not been able to find any information that supports this statement. I know that the 2nd Regiment was near Tupelo, MS at that time and have found records of another solider in that regiment (John Smith, Company I) who died on August 10, 1862 at Camp Priceville. I am also looking for information about the Confederate Cemetery at Hazlehurst, MS where I have read that many of the 2nd Texas Regiment are buried.
