The American Civil War Research Database shows a William H. Myers who enlisted as a Private, Company B, 9th Texas (Maxey's) Infantry

However, no one by this name is found in the records I have access to. The closest I find I list below, his age at enlistment may help in identification. Also, being assigned as a Pioneer may indicate that he was an Artisan.

Brinson's Company, 4th Regiment Volunteers**, October 14, 1861 at Camp Reeves (April 1, 1861 at Fort Worth, Texas), detailed as a Pioneer [Engineer] July 1, 1862, a year later he was detailed as a Courier, furloughed on Surgeon's certificate February 10, 1864, later recorded as having deserted, arrested May 5, 1864 in Phillips County, Arkansas, sent to Camp Chase, Ohio Prison camp May 17, transferred to City Point, Virginia February 25, 1865 for exchange, admitted March 8, 1865 to Jackson Hospital, Richmond, Virginia with Delibitas, furloughed March 9, 1865 for 30 days,
