Allen Gilley, 25th TX Cav.

My gg-grandfather was Allen Gilley. He was from the Homer area in Angelina County, TX. I don't know where he enlisted. He was in Co. B, 25th Texas Cav.

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand the service records that I viewed online at Footnote. The very first page shows his name, regiment...
then underneath where it shows (Confederate.) it shows Private|Private. I know that's his rank, but is there a reason to why it is shown twice?
Then, Card Numbers.

1. 50357848

2. 8019

3. 8481

4. 345571

Do these numbers mean anything or is that just archival identifiers.?

Also, on one of the pages there is a note of some kind and this is what is on it:
Gilly, Allen
Co B. 25th Tex. Cav.

Subject: Prisoner

Title of record: L. R.

Dept. Trans Miss. Dist. of Tex. New Mex. & Ariz.

Date: Feb. 7/65

This record contains information relavtive to the above named man, upon the subject stated.

(Confederate)

Does this mean that he was a prisoner of the C.S.A.? maybe AWOL? or a POW?
Does anyone know what the title, "L.R." is?

After many years of researching, I am finally attempting to do military research. But I am having a hard time understanding
the information that I am gathering. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Trina
