SHERWOOD A. OWENS - TEXAS SURGEON

I am looking for any information out there on an American Civil War veteran relating to his life and/or death. His name was Sherwood A. Owens and he was supposedly a Surgeon in the Confederate States Army, who served with the 2nd Texas Provisional Regiment and is shown on a list dated November 1863. He was said to have last been seen on the official Muster Rolls of February 24, 1864, being granted leave to return home for a visit as his only child was expected to die and any moment. He had been on duty for fourteen months and received a pass from Galveston, Texas to return to Houston, Texas. Anyone who can provide any confirmation of this, and especially information on his life, death and burial are asked to contact me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. jamesmgray@bigpond.com
