R.W. Blalock, Enlisted May 27,1861 at Linden, Cass Co., Texas in Capt A.G. Clopton's Company,(Star Rifles) Became Co D, 1st Texas Infantry, mustered in for12 months at New Orleans,La in June 1861.

He was Captured at Fair Oaks and exchanged at Aikens Landing,Va. Descriptive list of POW'S captured May 31 & June 1, 1862 at Fair Oaks,. 1st Corpl. R. W. Blalock, Age 26, Height 5 ft 11 ins, Hair Brown, Eyes Hazel, Complexion Fair.

Appears to have been reduced from 1st Corporal to Private sometime in mid 1863.

List of casualites in the 1st Regiment Texas Infantry for A.D. 1864. Report dated near Charles City Road, Va. Mch 4,1864. Where: Spotsylvania C.H.
When: May 10, 1864, Nature of injury, &c: wounded in abdomen with bayonet. Remarks: Mortially and dead.
