Don't see his name as a Confederate soldier, but there is a man listed as H. Addison in Terry's Texas Cavalry. The census lists Malcom H. Addison as a stock raiser living near Caldwell. As a stock raiser, he's someone who could have been employed as a livestock supplier for the government. That would qualify as working with the Commissary Department without actually having to enlist.
