Re: Shiloh National Cemetery may have missing body

A follow-up, There was a Mankin James Gibbons from Columbus, Ohio. According to the 1860 census James M. Gibbons was living with his family and listed as being born in 1839. Mankin was listed as a blacksmith while his father's occupation was a plough maker supporting the newspaper article. Company H of the 46th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment was listed as being from Franklin County which is the county seat of Columbus, Ohio. Of the hundreds of regiments that went off to War from Ohio, perhaps the 46th Ohio suffered more casualties throughout the War then any other Ohio regiment. Near the turn of the century surviving members of the 46th Ohio invited members of a Louisiana Regiment to Worthington, Ohio a town just North of Columbus and returned the battle flag of a Louisiana Regiment. The flag was captured at the battle of Jonesboro, Georgia in 1864. I can still recall the 46th Ohio having repeating rifles at Jonesboro, Georgia and the contest between the two regiments was rather one sided.
