7th Regt. Miss. Inf. History published

After twelve years of research, the regimental history of the 7th Regt. Miss. Inf. has been published and can be ordered by contacting me or at our website: www.7miss.org. This regiment was part of the Mississippi "High Pressure Brigade" and was pivotal in all of the major actions of the Army of Tennessee, including time on the Bridgeport, Alabama line in August of 1863, the Atlanta Campaign, Franklin, Nashville, and the rear guard actions during the retreat through northern Alabama in December of 1864. In addition rear guard action by this regiemnt, the 9yj Miss. Sharpshooters and john Hunt Morgan's cavalry in the Cumberland Gap after the retreat from Kentucky in September and October of 1862 is highlighted.

"Lest We Forget-The Immortal Seventh" is a two volume set that is a chronological record of all known letters, diaries, official reports, and family lore attributed to this group of Southern patriots from their muster in Southwest Mississippi in 1861 until their surrender in North Carolina in 1865. A majority of the cited works are primary sources and previously unpublished.

Related regiments are also cited particularly 52nd Tennessee, Marcus Wright's 154th Tennessee, John C. Brown’s Tennessee Brigade, Bushrod Johnson's Brigade, Ketchum's/ Garrity's/Bond's Alabama Battery, Deas/ Coltart's Brigade, Manigault's Alabama and South Carolina Brigade, and Wheeler's 19th Alabama and Clanton's 1st Alabama cavalry in actions in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.
