Capt. Harmon F. Johnson is my 3rd great-granduncle or otherwise known as brother to my 3rd great-grandmother.

Edward P. Martin's approved pension application gives: “From Aug. 1864 to April 1865 was on special duty under Gen. Forest orders and the last orders I had from him near Florence, Ala., was to report to the famous Capt. Jack Hinson, who would aid in destroying telegraff lines between Johnsonville and Nashville and between Clarksville, Fort Donelson & Nashville.”

Thomas, USA, commanding Dept. of the Cumberland, giving age 47, eyes blue, hair light, complexion light, height 5’10”, born Monghomery County, TN, occupation farmer, originally enrolled or enlisted 10/12/61 in Stewart County, TN, by Col. Bailey, and mustered in 10/12/61 in Stewart County, TN, by Gen. Tilghman, for the war.
Originally enlisted as 2 Lt. in Co. H, 49 TN Infantry, CSA, at Palmyra, TN 12/3/61; elected 2 Lt., date of rank 12/3/61; captured POW at Fort Donelson, TN 2/16/62; POW at Camp Chase, OH, transferred to Johnson’s Island, OH 4/26/62; POW received at Johnson’s Island, OH 4/26/62; departed Johnson’s Island, OH 9/1/62 for exchange at Vicksburg, MS; POW received on board steamer Jno. H. Done near Vicksburg, MS 9/20/62; declined reelection at reorganization of Company 9/27/62 and returned to his home.
Born circa 1817 in Montgomery County, TN; died 1884-Feb. 1885 in Stewart County, TN; buried Stewart County, TN; son of Abel & Curtis (Frazier) Johnson; husband of Anna Irene (Crank); 1860 St. Co., TN, Census: bp. TN, age 42, farmer.

Minor, and mustered in 9/1/62 at Waverly, TN, by Maj. Minor, for the war.
Born September 4, 1844 in Dickson County, TN; died January 6, 1932 or January 25, 1933 at Big Rock, Stewart County, TN; buried Smith Cemetery, Big Rock, Stewart County, TN; son of Jeremiah George & Emily Bucham (Ellis) Martin; husband of Irene (Reynolds) Martin; 1860 Dick. Co., TN, Census: bp. TN, age 15, farm hand.

His headstone has death as January 6, 1932.

His pension application has his death as January 25, 1933 at Big Rock, Stewart County, TN
