I feel like you do about family tradition, as I have come across so many that have proven as family tales. Caroline took him to the Nashivlle Davidson county courthouse. Now it seems that he would have some kind of record there, even though its been so many years. This was in January of 1863, he was age 48.
I will have to think on this, as my money is low, because I order so much from the archives.
I feel that there has to be a record somewhere, what do you think about the records at the courthouse?

Your people helped me find my ggrandfather Robert Allen, the State of Tennessee Archives had one and send it to me, it was not corrrect. it took years to find
the correct one.
If there is anything in Benjamin's papers that I could relate to, I would not mind going ahead and ordering, but I hesitate beacause I am not sure it is him.
