Sgt. Mathis' wound was probably inflicted during a skirmish with rebel cavalry or guerrillas;since they did duty along the Nashville & Northwestern R.R. This regiment captured two of my G-Grandfather's and shot them as guerrillas in Dickson co;same location where Mathis enlisted.
