Geo. Dotson, took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, May 1864. He was then released, now a citizen of the United States. I would not consider this to be a parole.

Parole " . . . a pledge or oath under which a prisoner of war is released with the understanding that he will not again bear arms until exchanged."
