In the 1890 Veterans Schedule of Carroll Co Tn John Abner Lawler is listed as enlisting May 1863 as private in Co A of the 7th Tn Cavalry.

In 1860 Census he is listed in Henderson Co Tn.

He was "not discharged". His "regiment was captured and scattered".

Although the Veterans Schedule was supposed to be Union soldiers, in many areas Confederates were also listed.

The question is.... Was he 7th Calvary Union or Confederate??
