Thank you for your response and information. I have John R. W. Lannom's widow's CW Pension papers and she was denied on two different occasions because he took the Oath.

I have been told TN is the only state that does not accept joining SCV if the soldier took the Oath. So I assumed the scholarship application would also be denied because it is in TN and he took the Oath.

I thought we should go through another ancestor, Nathan Presely Lannom.
