To which company was he attached?

The 6th Tennessee Infantry regiment was a West Tennessee outfit and the one J. W. Davis of that regiment was in Co. D which was raised in Fayette Co.

I cannot identify the 6th Infantry regiment raised in East Tennessee. It could have been the 59th, 60th, 61st, or 62nd.

A J. W. Davis was in Company B of the 62nd which was raised in Benton & Polk County.

Also, a John Davis served in Co. L of the 60th Tennessee. This company was raised in Hawkins County.

None of these regiments fought in Georgia, nor where they at Chickamauga.

I cannot identify a Pleasant, Tennessee in CW era maps. I do know however, that Pleasant was a rather common male given name. Ah yes, I find a Pleasant Hill, Mississippi some 15 miles to the SE of Memphis, just below the border, south of Fayette Co.
