Ian,
An example of the type arms the regiment was outfitted with is at the Tenn. State Library and Archives. My g-g-grandfather was William H. White. Prior to the Enfield issue on August 14, 1862, he carried a Tennessee Long Fowler rifled flint-lock musket that was converted to percussion. When the regiment marched overland across Walden's Ridge to commence the Kentucky campaign - he apparently returned home briefly to McMinnville giving his rifle to his father and then rejoined the regiment in route. His rifle is on display there.
