Greetings:
The 8th Tennessee Infantry Regiment US Volunteers served with distinction in the Civil War during the Atlanta Campaign in BG Jacob D. Cox Division of the 23rd Army Corps. They were significantly involved in the Battle of Utoy Creek, GA 6, Aug 1864. They were the only unit to reach the enemy works during that battle.
There regimental colors were captured by the Confederates of Tylers Brigade during the action at Utoy Creek. recovered by the US
