I am assuming your ancestor was Captain R. F. Morris, Co. "F", 33rd Tennessee Regiment. Here's a history of the regiment --

In the interim between Shiloh and Bragg's retreat from Corinth MS, there was no major battle here. Unfortunately contaminated water and poor health facilities led to the death of many Southern solders camped around the town. I would guess that's we are told in Capt. Morris' service file.
