Report of Major General John G. Parke, U. S. Army.

It would appear that this hospital was found at Rocky Springs, approximately 4 miles NE up the Rutledge rode from Bean's Station.

STRAWBERRY PLAINS, Tennessee,
December 31, 1863.

GENERAL: I have just received reports of reconnaissance up the Rutledge road. The party went 4 1/2 miles beyond Bean's Station. Here they found a rebel hospital with a number of wounded, too badly hurt to be moved. They took 4 prisoners- part of the hospital attendants. . . .

……..

The road from Blain’s Cross Rds runs SW-NE up to Rogersville passing through Rutledge approximately 10 miles up the rode and then another 10+ miles to the intersection to Bean’s Station. About 4 miles further North it passes through Rocky Spr.
