Re: 1st Tennessee Infantry Regiment CSA

Captain John H.Bevell of Co.D,1st Tennessee Infantry was married to my great-aunt, Mahala Isabella Baggett, and they had 5 children. He was wounded during Picketts' Charge at Gettysburg and later in the war was captured at Petersburg.....He survived the war. 2nd.Lt. Thomas H. Baggett was Mahalas' brother...I believe he died in 1864 at home in Moore County,Tenn. I really don't know what he died of...It's been said he was killed somehow while still on active duty. He left 3 small children behind. Some periods of Thomas' army service is a bit sketchy and I am trying to find out whatever I can. I will continue my search on the information you provided. Thank you for your help. Charles Lockley.
