My great, grandfather in real life was wounded at Gettysburg and was assigned to an invalid corps and released in 1865 in New Jersey. I asked a friend of mine who is from Michigan and who studies the Civil War. He said a good amount of men from Michigan were released from Knoxville, Tn so I decided to use that location for my book, which is fiction. I have googled everyway I can think of and haven't found an article or book so far. I just thought I would try this to see if something had some suggestions.
