Sampson T. Cross is proven as one of Jesse's brothers, since Sampson named Jesse P. Cross as his brother and executor of his will dated 12 Jun 1895, which was recorded 16 Aug 1895 in Blountville. Unfortunately, we still cannot definitively prove William or David. John Cross and Rachel Sampson were their parents. John Cross was a son of Abraham Cross and is named in Abraham's will.

David William Emmert was one of the witnesses of Sampson's will. He and his four brothers also served in the 63rd. David's eldest daughter, Sallie, married Jesse's eldest son John Isaac Cross.
