Greg & George,

Thank you for all of your information. I knew that Knoxville was never taken over after the Union's capture of the town. I was looking where "my doctor" may have boarded the train to Virginia. He was ordered to report to the 38th GA Inf. He received his orders on 10/10/64 while with Hood's army at Dallas, GA. On 10/19/64 he was in Gordonsville, VA. Had to use "the cars" to make that trip in 9 days. In his writings he said he boarded in TN at "the R's Junction" Rogersville is the only one I've found with an R, north of Knoxville.
