Your post got my attention ! I live near Blountville, Tenn. This comes from " Tennesseans and the Civil War " : James P. Snapp, Ward C. Harvey, A. Wynne Smith, Co. "C", formerly "E". "The Blountville Guards." Men from Sullivan County

Found this at the Civil War Research Database. Only William Ald I found in either army. No record of him being a Captain. Check out from where he filed for a pension.

Enlisted on 8/22/1862 as a Private.

On 9/18/1862 he mustered into "F" Co. IL 77th Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 7/10/1865 at Mobile, AL

Federal Pension Information:
He applied for a pension on 12/10/1894 from the state of KS
application # 1,162,488
