Not sure if this is your man. However, having traveled 70 miles to enlist at Rogersville, it's possible.

James B. White, age 24, Private, Company B, 60th Regiment Tennessee Infantry, enlisted September 12, 1862 at Rogersville by S. R. Gammon for 3 years, having traveled 70 miles to rendezvous, appointed 1st Sergeant March 18, 1863, captured at the Big Black Bridge May 17, 1863, sent to Memphis, Tennessee May 25, received at Fort Delaware, Del. prison June 15, transferred September 20/26 to Point Lookout, Md. prison, paroled and sent to City Point, Va. for exchange, n.d., exchanged February, 1865, recorded present at Camp Lee, near Richmond, Va. February 17, 1865, no further records
