Secession(Humphreys Co.)

"It was the boast of Humphreys County, of which Waverly is the seat,-but one Union man had lived within its limits, and he had been killed"

On June 1st, 1861 Humphreys County voted, unamiously,(1,042 to 0) for secession.

[Daily Nashville Patriot 6/6/1861]
"Humphreys County sends greeting to her sisters of the entire State. She intends to cast the largest vote, population considered, by any county, in favor of Separation and Representation. We are informed there are not ten Unionists in the county- Look out Humphreys for Lincoln-"Old Linkhorn"- it is said there is not one known Unionist within her limits."
