Calling attention to Robert Gates' unit history of the 6th Tenn.Inf. contained in Lindsley's "Military Annals of Tennessee" on pg. 211.
Gates states that the last Colorbearer was"Pvt.
Posey, of Company A". He further states that
"Posey was promoted to the rank of Lieut. for his
bravery, and later in the war fell bearing it (flag) to
the front."

I have been unable to find "pvt. Posey" in the
Compiled Service Records and he is NOT listed in
Vol. 2 of "Tennesseans in the Civil War" either.

Has anyone a clue as to who this might have been?
