We have been searching for 10 years with only circumstancial evidence. Searching for John Cunningham (1830-1912). Oral history says Confederate, but half the family was Union, other half Rebel. From Claiborne Co Tn. There was about 550 men in both armies with that name. Middle initial could be S or C. Never found comfirmable evidence for the initial. Oral history said one of the brothers fought with Ashby's Cav but the ones listed don't check out. Many relatives in that unit including Cooks. His mother and uncles were Cooks.
