Yes, Rev. Mike Lumpkin is the one whom I spoke to who asked me to remove the monument.His reason for removal is that they have a diversified congregation and it caused a turmoil last year when the Hunley Camp and our chapter did the wreath ceremony and memorial.
The H. L. Hunley Camp SCV is the camp that asked me if we would ask permission of the church to let them have a ceremony there. One of the SCV members has a letter from last year that suggest we remove the monument so they are well aware of the situation. Thank you for your response and I have emailed Larry Salley as Confederato suggested last year so hopefully I can find some answers to respond to Lumpkins' questions when I call him on the 17th for an answer.
