Baswell B. Lusk,*** Private, Capt. Jas. William Livingston’s Company, 1st Regiment South Carolina Rifles,* enlisted July 20, 1861 at Camp Pickens, Anderson Dist., by Lt. B. Sloan for 3 years or the war, admitted General Hospital, Camp Winder, Richmond, Va. June 26, 1862, Jaundice, returned to duty July 10, died in hospital at Richmond, Va., Febris Typh. July 12,** 1862, his widow, Sarah A. Lusk filed claim for the settlement of his accounts December 4, 1862, signing by an ‘X’, “her mark,” his description: 34 year old Farmer, born at Pickens, S. C., blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 5’ 6-1/2”

* This company subsequently became Company A, 1st (Orr’s) Regiment South Carolina Rifles
