Who was Col. D---?

In his diary that discusses the July 27th fight at Tilghman's Gate, Col. William Dayton Rutherford commanding 3rd South Carolina writes, "5 a.m. report the enemy in column moving to the left of our line 5 1/2 a.m. reported this message to Col. D. Genl. H came down in person Ordered me to swing my left over.

Who was Col. D? Did he command Kershaw's old South Carolina Brigade?
