August 23, on sick leave for 60 days from September 10, 1864, present at the end of year where they were stationed at James Island, no further records

Jesse/J. A. Gladden, Company D, 1st Battalion South Carolina Cavalry, enlisted April 10, 1862 at Camp Means/Chester C. H., by Capt. Walker for the war, value of horse $235, equipments $30, for use of horse $8.40, subsequently increased to $24.80, designated Bugler on the Nov/Dec, 1862 muster roll, transferred to Regimental Band June 1, 1863 as Musician, present at the end of year 1864, no further records

The battalion was designated 1st Regiment South Carolina Cavalry about June 25, 1862.
