Loudon Butler is the son of Pierce MASON Butler (former governor of South Carolina, etc., etc.) not Pierce Manning Butler! Loudon was my great-granduncle. He served as a major in the CSA; died in 1863 in the Battle of Chickamauga, Tennessee.
