Hester's Company, 7th Regiment South Carolina Volunteers,* enlisted April 15, 1861 at Abbeville Court House, South Carolina for 12 months, recorded as 5th Corporal on the Sept. & Oct., 1861 muster roll, promoted 4th Sergeant January 1, 1862, admitted to Moore Hospital at General Hospital No. 1, Danville, Virginia, January 2, 1862, Camp Fever, sent to General Hospital in Charlottsville, n.d., recorded on July 23, 1862 as 3rd Sergeant, killed on the field of Chickamauga September 20, 1863

* This company subsequently became (1st) Company D, 7th Regiment South Carolina Infantry
