Are there records of men who served in the Confederate Navy, possibly aboard or around the CSS Hunley? I am trying to identify information related to any of the following persons who lived in Charleston, South Carolina during/after the Civil War:

(1) Captain John R. Lester, b. abt 1820 in Virginia and resided in Charleston, SC per 1850 Fed. census and 1868 City Directory;

(2) R. John Lester, Mariner, b. abt 1848 in Georgetown District, SC and son of Capt. John R. Lester;

(3) Francis W. Lester, b. abt 1845 in Georgetown District, SC and son of Capt. John R. Lester;

(4) William J. Lester, b. abt 1847 in Georgetown District, SC and son of Capt. John R. Lester; and

(5) E. Lester, artist, b. bef 1860, resided in Charleston, South Carolina in 1868, sex unknown and relationship to above Lesters unknown.

Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.
