You might try: A History of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry 1861-1865 by Mac Wyckoff, which will tell you where the 8th went as well since the two regiments were in the same brigade. Also, the Supplement to the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, part II, volume 64 will provide a lot of detail on movements of the individual companies of the 8th, which again will hold true for Company E since the companies would be marching together, along with other regiments of the same brigade.
