Recently I was contacted through local SCV contacts to provide information to a gentleman wishing to learn more about the military history of his ancestor. While I have a good library on Virginia soldiers, I must admit my knowledge of those from South Carolina is lacking.

I searched the NPS database and found that a George Rochester is listed in both Company D, 5th SC Infantry and Company K, 5th SC Cavalry.

The man in which I am intersted was born 7 June 1844 and died 24 April 1906.

All information received will be printed and passed on to the gentleman who made the request.
