The South Carolina in the Civil War Message Board

Youngest ever Confederate officer.

Can anyone confirm who was the youngest ever Confederate officer to have served during the war, please?
An Australian web site indicates that there was a soldier who was a sergeant by the age of about seven or eight, and a lieutenant before he was aged ten. This Confederate soldier is indicated to be buried in Queensland, Australia. See http://www.acwv.info/1-files-veterans/S/syms-A.htm
This would seem to be a world record, and I would like to find out if this soldier, who served in a South Carolina unit was indeed the youngest to have attained his commissioned rank before he reached his tenth birthday.
