Francis Marion Barton Relatives

I am trying to find information on my greatgrandfather Francis Marion Barton's unit Company E, 62nd North Carolina Regiment of Transylvania Co. NC. He joined on 14 July 1862 along with his brother Millington "Mint" Barton.

I found a note: (Ref:Moore's North Carolina Troops in the War between th States, Vol III, Pg. 762)(pg.128) I do not understand what this reference is about.

I would like to know what skirmishes Francis fought in. Was he captured, what prison was he in.

A uncle of mine visited him in 1928 and Francis told him that when the war was over, he had to walk over 150 miles back to Transylvania Co. NC.,nearly freezung and starving to death on his walk back home.

I would appreciate any information you can send me.

Thanks,

Wally
