* This company subsequently became Captain Kelly's Company, Light Artillery, South Carolina Volunteers. It appears to have served for a time in Moseley's Battalion of Artillery. This battalion was composed of companies from various States that afterward served as independent commands

** Here is what one fellow commented on the term "I can however tell you that a 'furlough of indulgence' simply means that he was give a period of time off, probably to go home. Sometimes it was granted because the soldier was sick, other times because he signed a re-enlistment."
