Re: Battle Field of the South
In Response To: Battle Field of the South ()

Back in December 2007 I asked that question on the "Mississippi in the Civil War" message board, and got this reply from Jim Huffman:

" Thomas E. Caffey was a private in Co. D (Hamer Rifles, raised in Yazoo County, MS), 18th MS Infantry. If you Google "Thomas E. Caffey," you'll find a few "hits" that list him as author of this work. I had to deduce his identity from reading part of the book, then searching for Yazoo County companies, and, finally, by searching the NPS S&S site for soldiers in MS units that served in VA for men with the initials "T.E.C." Had fun doing it, though! Enjoy! -- Jim Huffman, Gainesville Vols "

In addition to Huffman's detective work, several other sources identify Caffey as author. Have you a different idea?
