Herte is another missing Pittman brother

Where is he buried? I have also placed a memorial in the Stogner/Pittman cemetery for him. Did he die a POW?

PVt. Daniel J. Pittman entered service Aug 10, 1861 Columbia, MS. as a member of a company known as William J. Rankins Company Miss. Volunteers know as "Marions Men" , for a period of 12 months. This unit was mustered into the Confederate States service, September of 1861. The company was then desingnated Co. F, 7th Miss. Infantry Regt. -- Marions Men.

From his Service records, Co. F, 7th Miss. Length of Service ten months twenty days.

In a register of those killed, wounded, and missing of the Second Corps , Army of Miss. at the battle of Shiloh, April 6 and 7 , 1862
time and place of wound-- 6" 3PM, right wing (Brother - in - law Charles Bullock was also severly wounded on this day, same location at 2pm.)
Nature of wound-- arm slightly

Was dischared at Saltillo, Miss July 17, 1862. Disability by order of General Bragg. Final assets furnished. (see also Richard B. Pittman letter dated July 20, 1862)

I also have the service records for Pvt. D. Pittman Co. I, 3rd Miss. Inf Regt. I am certain this is Daniel because all of the Pittman Brothers had left the 7th Miss. by this time except Richard and Stephen. Also referencing to the Richard Pittman letter of May 25, 1863, Richard has this to say; " I have not had any letter from Daniel and the boys there since them fights there, so I don't know how they came out. I hear every day by the news papers that they are fighting there and that our men is running away and going home, which is to bad." This clearly disputes the above statement of Daniel dying in 1862.

From Pvt D.(aniel) Pittman's service record Co. I, 3rd Miss. Inf. Regt. Length of service seven months ten days.
