Since you are a Simpson County research expert I thought I would ask you this as one of my last hopes of ever finding anything out on my GGGrandfather. Perhaps pigeon holed away in some Simpson Co info his name might pop up. His name was William F. Grubbs but I have seen it as a possible Wm F. M. Grubbs. His father was Francis Marion Grubbs. He had two brothers who served in Co B. 16th Miss, the Westville Guards, Francis Marion and James M. Here is the problem. He was born from Francis Marion Grubb’s first wife who died sometime after he was born in 1823 here in Simpson County, sometime after 1856 he moved to Bossier Parrish LA where he is listed twice on the 1860 census, once as William an donce as B. P. But that is a transcription error and on the census pretty sure middle initial is F. Anyway, as the story goes, my great grandmother was 6-8 when he Left for the war, prob 1861 or 62. As was the case with many, he never returned and they never heard anything from him ever. So lots could have happened to him. I have been unable to find anything on him to ID which unit he ever joined, if indeed he did. There is one Wm Grubbs in 6th Louisiana but I am pretty certain that is not him. He could have journeyed back to Simpson County to enlist with all his family since he was the only one to ever leave there. So if you ever run across anything on a Wm F or Bill F Grubbs that died in the war please remember to post for me. Many thanks
