The first phone call to the genealogical society yielded little results. I ask if Charles E. Boles or Bowels or Bolton or surnames close had any records in Macon County, Illinois in 1860 ie property records, taxes etc. They said they would get back to me.

Have not made contact with the Historical Society yet. Somehow some historians have established him living there in 1860. It's a given that he enlisted in 1862 but I'm hunting for 1860.
