Desmond Doss' great grandfather was Thomas Henry Doss, Co. I, 42nd Virginia Inf. Death date July 2nd, 1863 at Gettysburg. Died while assaulting Culp's Hill. Most likely during the night assualt. Very ironic, since Desmond's MOH came from his duty in the assualt on a 250 foot high enscarpment.
